Downtown Indianapolis Engagement
// Tori + Greg
I first met Tori as a bridesmaid for Janelle + Justin’s wedding. When she contacted me about photographing her upcoming wedding not too long after Janelle’s, I was SO ecstatic. I adored working with everyone in that wedding and to get to photograph some of the same people again for Tori’s wedding… it’s a dream.
Early this spring we planned out an engagement session when both Tori and Greg would be in Indianapolis. Tori is in Minnesota for Grad School and Greg is in Wisconsin for work. Both of their families live around the Indy area. Ironically Greg’s family lives just up the street from me. (It never ceases to amaze me with what a small world we live in.)
We kept our fingers crossed for some nice spring weather for their engagement session and weren’t disappointed. All week long it was rainy and overcast. On Friday, the day of our shoot, I woke up to a bright, sunny, semi-warm day.
It was perfect.
We started off doing some photographs in my living room, utilizing some beautiful natural light, my gray walls as a blank canvas, and some of the vintage rugs I’ve been collecting. We wanted the photos to really feel like spring time so the pine trees across from my house worked as a nice green backdrop.
Then we headed downtown.
We were met with gorgeous golden hour light and a STUNNING sunset.
I could not have asked for a better couple, a better evening, or better weather. Every time I go through these photos I pick out new ones I’m in love with. I’m so excited for this year and to really push myself to make art that feels like me. That pushes me out of my comfort zone. That I’m in love with.
